Meditation

How many people are there out there who would like to meditate but say they don’t know how or haven’t got the time?
Well meditation does not have to be difficult or time consuming. It is something you can do while you wait for the bus or in the dentists waiting room.
There are those who spend an hour at a time, every day, and go into a deep meditation but don’t let this put you off. Ten minutes a week is better than none at all and a short quiet daydream can be very relaxing.
Meditation can relieve stress and relax you. Just for that short time everyday problems can melt away, and when the meditation is finished things don’t seem quite so bad.
On a cold winters day you can visualise yourself sitting under palm trees on a hot beach with blue sea shimmering in front of you.
You may prefer to walk in the snow~covered woods and discover a cabin with a roaring log fire.
Take a walk in the rain forest and hear the colourful birds and wild animals calling to you. Ideas are endless.
Find a place that is yours alone to visit time after time.
Music can be used as a background but it isn’t necessary. Quietness is another way to meditate. Just sit comfortably with your eyes closed and let your mind drift. Every time a problem pops up acknowledge it and forget it.
Guided meditations are used in groups with one member talking the others through the meditation.
Sounds such as drumming or chanting are wonderful for focusing.
Flowers and candles can also be used. I have heard of someone who walked backwards and forwards just concentrating on the movement of their feet!
Of course meditation is not just for relaxing. Many people use it to connect with Spirit and to meet their Spirit guides.
I will be adding meditations soon but meditation isn’t just about sitting quietly with your eyes closed in a room at home. Yes we can close our eyes and be wherever we wish ~ but there are other ways.
Sometimes walking on a beach in the winter or sitting on a rock looking out to sea and allowing you mind to be still is the most wonderful experience.
Being at one with the earth and sky brings you into touch with your deepest self, with Spirit and with your guides and guardians.
Nature is the best meditation material possible.
You can also, if you wish, focus on a beautiful picture or photograph.
